Abstract: This article presents a case study of congenital syphilis identified from Kaberla cemetery in North Estonia. As far as the author is aware, this is the earliest reported case identified from skeletal evidence in Estonia, and is thus particularly interesting. This paper will present some general background information about the disease and its development, as well as presenting the specific lesions noted on the Kaberla skeleton that led to the diagnosis of syphilis.
