Abstract: The text deals with one of the thematic areas studied in the context of the dissertation “Bordalo Pinheiro’s table silverware. Contribution to an exhibition project and respective risk management”, developed within the scope of the Master in Museology at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. From questions raised when designing the exhibition of a dining room in a house museum, the text tries to reflect on presentation versus representation of narratives of the private life in house museums. A new approach to communication is proposed, not only dealing with a physical plane of the staged space but a representation that will cover different layers that may constitute a different moment and locus in time, opening a dialogue between multiple areas of study.
