Abstract: This article examines the state of people’s access to the inclusive urban transport system in Dhaka and suggests strategies for improving access to the transport system. By adopting an exploratory approach, both quantitative and qualitative tools of data collection were employed to gather primary data through questionnaires and key informant interviews (KIIs). The findings reveal the lack of passengers’ trust and satisfaction in terms of the availability, accessibility, accommodation, acceptability and affordability of public buses for the vulnerable groups in Dhaka city. To make the transport system accessible and inclusive, suitable vehicles need to be introduced with additional resource commitments along with sensitive training and public awareness to respect and support vulnerable groups to access transport systems with ease in Dhaka and similar cities.
