Abstract: : Overall, the research presented in this dissertation focused on the optimization of the tie rod of a steering system of a car using experimental and FEA analysis. The tie rod was traditionally made of cast iron, but in this study, an aluminum material was used. The results of the theoretical, experimental, and FEA analysis were compared to the conventionally used tie rod material in terms of cost and weight optimization. The study found that the use of aluminum material for the tie rod resulted in a reduction in weight and cost without compromising on the functional strength of the tie rod. Additionally, the research also discussed the importance of regular maintenance and inspection of the steering system and suspension, as well as the potential failure modes of the tie rod and their causes.
