Abstract: Focusing on French fiction about vineyards and wine from 1960 to the present day, this article analyzes the construction, through specific markers, of socio-professional archetypes of female and male characters. We will see, for example, that the sporadic narrative motifs of the (assistant) enologist partner or the wine-producing heiress are used in these fictions as a foil and receptacle for dominant male figures. Secondary in the construction of the plots, this gender relationship seems to be reduced to representations differentiating women and men in their relationship to work, but also in their relationship to the cultural identity linked to the land and its traditions. In fact, the subject of these fictions remains solely the central cultural object—wine—and the promotion of a French heritage.
