Abstract: Viral diarrhoeas are a group of acute infectious diseases manifested by symptoms of intoxication, with predominant involvement of the upper parts of the gastrointestinal tract. According to statistics, infectious diarrhoea occupies second place in prevalence, yielding only to acute inflammations of the respiratory tract. The causative agents of acute intestinal infection may be bacteria, viruses, parasites and protozoa. But more than half of the cases of acute diarrhoea are connected with viral infection, and less often (in 20-25%) with bacterial infection. Viral diarrhoea is a disease of an acute character, caused by viruses tropic to the epithelium of the gastrointestinal tract, distinguished by a moderate degree of intoxication of the organism and by involvement of the digestive and respiratory tracts.
