Abstract: In her article entitled ‘Performing Solidarity’ Noyale Colin reflects on the particularities of solidarity in and through performance in relation to core organizing themes of affect, space and time. Colin argues that sustained practices of solidarity have the potential to rehearse collective actions in inclusive spaces and in connection with different temporalities. Drawing on a series of panel discussions from Performing Solidarity (2019-2020) and the ongoing work of artist and activist Lena Šimić, she identifies specific characteristics of performance which point to practices of solidarity that can support social change. The article offers a schematic representation of the concept of performing solidarity through its articulation of key propositions which foreground the reflexive process of performance with reference to sites of solidarity in and beyond the arts.
