Strain and temperature sensor using few-mode fiber, designing guidelines and results

Abstract: A sensor based on single mode and few-mode fibers is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. A model is developed for investigating the effect of using different mode combinations. A fiber guiding four LP modes is investigated as an example. Good agreement between modeling and experimental results are found.
