Fluorine 18–labeled Somatostatin Analog Improves Detection of Neuroendocrine Tumors
Year: 2023
Type: article
Abstract: P ET with 68 Ga-labeled analogs of somatostatin, such as 68 Ga-DOTATATE, is the current clinical standard for imaging neuroendocrine tumors.18 F radiotracers have better imaging properties, such as cost, half-life, availability, and spatial resolution, relative to 68 Ga, driving ongoing efforts to develop 18 F-labeled somatostatin analogs for PET.A previous study showed superiority of [ 18 F]AlF-NOTAoctreotide to 68 Ga-DOTATATE for detecting primary and metastatic neuroendocrine tumors.Since the prior study lacked validation of lesions, the authors prospectively compared detection of lesions with [ 18 F]AlF-NOTA-octreotide versus 68 Ga-DOTATATE in 10 participants with neuroendocrine tumors using MRI as the reference standard.
