Detection of Myocardial Scar Among Cardiac Sarcoidosis Patients on Cmr Imaging Using Deep Learning on Ecg Signals
Year: 2023
Type: article
Abstract: Sarcoidosis is a rare multisystem genetic disease. About 20% of Sarcoidosis patients have cardiac involvement. Previous studies have shown that cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) patients are at high risk for lethal ventricular arrhythmia (VA) risk when there is a fibrotic remodeling in the heart. However, fibrosis is detected by Late Gadolinium Enhancement (LGE) MRI - a cardiac imaging modality of high cost and limited availability. Thus, developing an algorithm that can predict the presence of fibrosis using a common screening tool, such as the ECG, would be invaluable in identifying which CS patients should undergo LGE-MRI to establish the need for primary prevention of VA.
