Abstract: The authors of the study acknowledge the potential impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on the research results in regard to the management of infections and self-isolation management at home (1).Therefore, further clinical studies are required to verify the efficacy of icenticaftor in COPD treatment.Although the primary endpoint of this study was not achieved, the research conducted by Martinez and colleagues (1) suggests that the 300-mg twice-daily icenticaftor dose might be the most appropriate option for further investigation, offering a new avenue for COPD treatment. However, it is important to emphasize that additional clinical studies are necessary to validate these findings and assess the long-term benefits and risks of icenticaftor in COPD management.
