Abstract: Law nº 13.415/17, which instituted the New High School, classifies Philosophy as studies and practices. Such wording provokes the following question: Is Philosophy present or not in General Basic Education as a discipline in the curricular matrices elaborated by the 27 State Departments of Education? The general objective of the research is to analyze the number of weekly Philosophy classes in New High School in different Brazilian states, taking into account teaching in State Public Education Networks. It assumes relevance due to the fact that there is a need to awaken in the philosophical community a movement to fight for changing the wording of the text of Law nº 13.415/17 from studies and practices to discipline. The research is bibliographical, documental and with a qualitative approach. In addition to the updated bibliographic sources and the theoretical framework in the area of teaching Philosophy, federal laws and normative documents related to the subject were consulted. For data collection, the website of the Movement for the Base Observatory was consulted, which has information on the implementation of the New High School and the National Common Curricular Base, such as the curricular matrices. It was found that the third year of New High School, which will possibly be implemented in the year 2024, is the one with the lowest weekly workload of the Philosophy discipline was reduced in 13 states, in the state public education networks.
