Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive primary brain cancer with significant resistance to the current therapeutic approach of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, jointly known as chemoradiation (CRT). Magnetic hyperthermia therapy (MHT) is a promising therapy for GBM that can be used to perform multiple sessions of non-invasive, localized hyperthermia by activating locally delivered magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONPs) with an external alternating magnetic field (AMF). In this study, MHT-mediated enhancement of CRT was evaluated in murine and human glioma cell lines both in cell culture and in rodents.
