Abstract: This document describes HearAdvisor's procedures for recording and evaluating hearing devices aim to address the challenge consumers face in assessing device performance before purchase. The laboratory setup involves a quiet semi-anechoic acoustic testing space with an eight-speaker ring with an acoustic manikin positioned in the center. Recordings include 72 scenes of simulated conversations with various background noise and talker configurations. Device evaluations cover speech intelligibility, own-voice quality, music streaming, and feedback. A comprehensive SoundScore is introduced, combining weighted metrics to provide a single, easily interpretable performance score for each hearing aid. Expert Choice awards are granted to devices with top scores, providing consumers with a shortcut to identify high-performing hearing aids.
