Abstract: Throughout oocyte maturation, there is a simultaneous elevation in the concentrations of Ca2+ and Zn2+, and the fertilization-induced Ca2+ oscillations cease under Zn2+-deficient conditions, implying an interplay between these ions, potentially at the IP3R1 level that harbors a Zn2+-binding domain.
