Abstract: The electrostatic surface of the hGGDPSAF enzyme A. without magnesium in the active site and B. with magnesium in the active site. Magnesium ions contribute positive charge across the protein allowing for stable binding with the phosphate heads of the substrate and product. Areas outlined in the yellow dotted approximate the surfaces located closest to the active site. The magnesium ions may also play roles in drawing in the negatively charged substrate.
