Por Entre Fotos E Nomes: a Tênue Linha Entre O Pessoal E O Familiar Durante a Ditadura Militar Brasileira

Type: article
Abstract: During the military dictatorship, the committed and conscious political action of militant adults often affected family members who were not part of the militancy, or even had the power to decide to do so. Children, mostly children and grandchildren, were susceptible to being directly or indirectly affected by both the political choices of their older relatives and the repressive apparatus that persecuted them. Given their age and the social position they occupied, there is no way to dissociate their potentially traumatic experiences from the family context and the individuals who were part of it. The aim of this article is therefore to consider the relationship between family, militancy, repression and private experiences from the point of view of the children of militants. The documentary 15 filhos (1996) and the book Infância Roubada, crianças atingidas pela Ditadura Militar no Brasil (2014) are used as sources.
