Receipt of financial assistance for oral targeted therapy among older adults with advanced non-small cell lung cancer: A prospective cohort study
Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Older adults with cancer are at increased risk for financial toxicity given high rates of polypharmacy, out-of-pocket costs, fixed incomes, and financial management challenges [1]. Furthermore, older adults with cancer who experience financial toxicity are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, and decreased quality of life (QOL) [1,2]. Oral targeted therapies may compound financial toxicity due to high cost-sharing requirements under Medicare Part D, the prescription drug benefit that insures most older adults [3].
