Stress and quality of life of the family caregivers of elderly with Alzheimer's disease

Abstract: ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress and quality of life of family caregivers of elderly with Alzheimer's disease. It is a quantitative study of descriptive type, conducted with 43 family caregivers of elderly with Alzheimer's. These were submitted to a semi-structured interview, the Brazilian Version of the Questionnaire Short-Form Health Survey of Quality of Life and the Inventory of Symptoms of Stress to Lipp Adults. It was verified that family caregivers of elderly present deeply affected health conditions, providing a stress frame which is related to their quality of life, especially in the physical, social and emotional domains.
