Abstract: In the 1980s, however, Muḥammad Mitwallī al-Shaʿrāwī and Muḥammad Sayyid Ṭanṭāwī, scholars of al-Azhar, did not adopt that feministic interpretation, instead observing the traditional trend. Thus, the divergence between the modernized feministic trend and conservative one still exists after the innovation made by the former. The conservative interpretation can survive through using the classical narratives such as ḥadīth and classical tafsīr.
