Abstract: The 2024 SAEM Annual Meeting features 891 abstracts, representing the diversity of issues and perspectives that are on the minds of academicians who deliver emergency care. Issues include the impact of new technologies, concerns about safety in the emergency department for both patients and those who serve patients, as well as new insights into learning and the evaluation of learners in the emergency care setting. From a technology perspective, “artificial intelligence” (or equivalent term) appears as a focus of 29 abstracts this year. Among other perspectives, a clear theme emerges that “humans matter most.” Whether it comes to teaching, counseling, implementation, deimplementation, or enhancing patient trust and understanding, a large proportion of abstracts point out that you matter; your words, face, humility, and knowledge form the bridge from good to excellent emergency care. Through this body of work, please engage in the diversity of emergency care.
