Abstract: At a time when children should be learning how to play and color, for those with metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD), early developmental skills begin to fade away. First, our children lose motor skills and, later, language. Our children become frustrated as their bodies become less responsive, and this loss is painful because of peripheral neuropathy, spasticity, and severe gastrointestinal dysfunction.
