Measuring and Monitoring Health Equity in Health Care Organizations: Why It’s Important and How to Move Forward
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Questions of equity and justice feature prominently in society and in health care. After the events of 2020, many health care institutions reiterated their commitments to health equity, not because they were forced to but presumably because it was the right thing to do. Diversity is a strength, and all people deserve good care regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or religious beliefs.1-6 Realizing such aspirational commitments in health care organizations will require deeds, not just words.
