Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The aging of China’s population and the growth of the elderly care industry have necessitated higher requirements for the design and research of aging-friendly furniture in nursing homes. However, current furniture manufacturers and designers do not adequately consider the unique characteristics of the elderly in nursing homes, resulting in a limited number of truly aging-friendly furniture products. Given the physiological and behavioral changes that occur with age, there is an urgent need for design to enhance interaction and communication between the elderly and their living furnishings. Therefore, it is crucial to develop and design aging-friendly furniture that aligns with the physiological and behavioral characteristics of the elderly population in nursing homes. This study aims to discover, investigate, develop, and focuses on design requirements for aging furniture in China nursing home.
