Abstract: The solid balance of a sugar factory helps in process control and also in establishing the massecuite and molasses % cane.A change in approach has evolved due to diversion of intermediate sugar house products to serve the feedstock requirement of a distillery.Due to this, factories are least bothered about solid balance calculation because of difficulties to calculate during the diversion period.But correct estimation helps to find out recovery % cane and recovery losses in intermediates products diversion.This paper discusses solid balance of different sugar factories which divert the clear Juice, syrup and B heavy molasses partially or completely for ethanol production and estimation of sugar recovery and recovery losses in syrup and B heavy molasses .
