Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study aims to establish a framework for understanding the dimensions of business resilience in the context of post-disaster recovery among floral establishments in Macau. A descriptive method was employed to characterize or describe the factors or attributes contributing to the resilience of these businesses. In addition, multivariate analysis using exploratory factor analysis was conducted to uncover and determine the underlying factor structure. This analysis facilitated the identification of various dimensions of business resilience. Through personal and electronic surveys, the survey questionnaire was administered to 300 respondents, consisting of managers and employees of businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A thematic approach was employed to derive meaningful data from the themes. The number of iterations conducted before arriving at the final factor was 25. The exploratory factor analysis identified six valid dimensions of business resilience in the floral industry in Macau. These six factors are labeled as (a) readiness and control, (b) philosophy and values, (c) emergency preparedness for planning, (d) communications, (e) good governance, and (f) linkages support.
