Year: 2024

Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study aims to explore the actual extent of legal empowerment among women in Port Said Governorate, Egypt, as well as the social barriers impeding their progress. Additionally, the study seeks to propose strategies to address these obstacles. Using a sample social survey method, a questionnaire was developed and administered to employed women. Analysis was conducted through the lenses of structural-functional theory, social roles, and feminist perspectives, particularly examining legal positions within the National Council for Women and female lawyers in society. The findings highlight persistent societal views that women's capabilities are not suited to certain roles, often confining them to domestic spheres due to traditional gender norms. Furthermore, women's representation in legal and leadership roles remains notably lower than men's.
