Abstract: Transportation problem is one of the predominant areas of operations research. It is a type of linear programming problem designed to minimize the cost of distributing a single product from m sources to n destinations. Transportation problem is widely used as a decision making tool in different fields such as engineering, business management and many others. These types of problems can be solved by general network methods. In this paper The Advanced Method for Solving the Transportation Problem (AMSTP) is proposed to find initial basic feasible solution and optimal solution of transportation problem and compared its results with other existing methods.
