A New Gas Logging Method Based on Semipermeable Film Degasser and Infrared Spectrum
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: At present, the gas logging electric degasser is easily affected by many factors such as drilling fluid displacement, drilling fluid level height, motor speed and drilling fluid properties, so the degassing efficiency is different and the quantification degree is poor. Long gas chromatographic analysis time, complex gas path structure and complicated operation process will lead to distortion of gas measurement data, which will affect the accuracy of hydrocarbon discovery and interpretation. A new gas logging instrument based on semi-permeable film degasser and infrared spectrum is developed to solve the problems of traditional logging equipment. The instrument uses the principle of semi-permeable membrane quantitative separation of gas and liquid, combined with the rapid and high sensitivity of infrared spectroscopy for gas analysis. The laboratory and field tests show that the instrument has good repeatability and stability, and can meet the requirements of the detection range of alkane gas concentration, and the detection range meets the requirements of the oilfield field. From the peak of the curve, the hydrocarbon curves of the electric degasser and the membrane degassing are basically the same, while the gas curves of the membrane degassing are fuller, indicating that there is rich information and unknown gas components. According to the hydrocarbon display results of hydrogen flame chromatography gas detector, the discovery rate of hydrocarbon display of the spectrometer is 100%. After testing, the instrument can replace the traditional electric degasser and hydrogen flame chromatography gas detector as gas logging equipment.
