Abstract: The name of the water mite species described by the late Petr Vasil'evich Tuzovskij as Atractides turkestanicus 2023 is a homonym of a name created by Ivan Ivanovich Sokolow in 1926 and requires to be replaced in order to avoid confusion, for instance if this name will be used in the context of a redescription and neotype designation of Sokolow's species. A formal replacement is proposed: Atractides tuzovskiji nomen novum pro Atractides turkestanicus Tuzovskij, 2023 [nec Atractides turkestanicus Sokolow, 1926 = Torrenticola turkestanica (Sokolow, 1926)]
