Abstract: This paper discusses a model developed for capturing the flow of play in tennis matches, particularly focusing on player performance and match momentum using factor analysis and data from the 2023 Wimbledon Tennis Men's Singles Tournament. The model involves categorizing data labels into serve, return, and score sessions, extracting key technical indicators, conducting factor analysis, and quantifying momentum scores. The analysis includes correlation tests, variance contribution rates, and factor score coefficient matrices to derive principal factors and calculate player performance scores. The momentum score expression and its application in analyzing match flow and player performance are also discussed, validated using match results from the tournament.
