Abstract: Although there is a lot of interest in both academic research and real-world applications for superhydrophobic coatings because of their exceptional hydrophobic and anti-icing qualities, there are still issues with their straightforward preparation method, long-term surface wettability, and robust mechanical durability. In this research, we effectively produced a superhydrophobic coating with a multi-scale micro-nano structure by first building a microstructure on the surface of silicone rubber using a template method, and then introducing hydrophobic candle soot nanoparticles. This coating is resistant to sandpaper wear from several cycles and high-pressure water flow impact. It also exhibits good wettability and self-cleaning properties. Meanwhile, the coated surface can cause a 756-second delay in the freezing time of water and a 35.7-kPa decrease in ice adhesion strength. Silicone rubber insulators in high-speed rail transit and transmission lines should benefit from surface anti-icing as a result of this study.
