Influence mechanism of emulsion collector on the flotation effect of coal gasification fine slag

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Coal gasification slag (CGS) poses challenges to the green and low-carbon development of the coal gasification industry due to its utilization restrictions. In this study, cationic surfactant DTAB was mixed with kerosene to prepare an emulsion collector. The flotation results showed that, the increase in collector dosage could significantly improve the combustible matter recovery, and under the appropriate dosage of reagent (10kg/t), increasing the ratio of DTAB could significantly reduce the ash content of concentrate, and improve the flotation precision. Flotation dynamics experiments were conducted and the Fuerstenau upgrading curve of floatation process were fitted, confirming that the entrainment of fine particles with high ash content serves as the primary factor contributing to the high ash content in flotation concentrates. Combined with FTIR spectroscopy, XPS and other techniques, the effect of surfactant was verified. The emulsion collector effectively reduced the dispersed particle size of the agent and improved particles hydrophobic agglomeration strength. Combined with Molecular dynamics simulation, the surfactant covered part of the hydrophilic sites on the residue carbon (RC) surface. The increased contact angle of the RC surface improved hydrophobicity, and influenced the electrostatic interaction. The research results have important theoretical significance for perfecting the flotation theory of CGFS.
