Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This article examines the psychological characteristics of young males with varying levels of internet addiction, particularly their self-esteem and aggressiveness. The relevance of the study is due to the increasing problems of internet addiction among youth, impacting their mental health, social adaptation, and development. Adolescence is a critical period for personality formation, where self-esteem and emotional stability are crucial. The study results showed that the majority of respondents demonstrate a low level of internet addiction, indicating a healthy attitude towards internet use. However, a significant portion of respondents with high levels of internet addiction requires further research and possible intervention. It was found that young males with low internet addiction levels predominantly exhibit average self-esteem and aggressiveness. In contrast, those with high internet addiction levels exhibit low self-esteem and high aggressiveness. The findings support the hypothesis that high internet addiction levels are associated with low self-esteem and high aggressiveness. The analysis revealed that the significant link between internet addiction and aggressiveness warrants attention to the mental health of this youth category. High aggressiveness can negatively impact interpersonal relationships, academic, and professional activities. The psychological characteristics of individuals with high and low levels of internet addiction differ significantly: the former show low self-esteem and high aggressiveness, while the latter exhibit average self-esteem and aggressiveness.
