Abstract: The article attempts to show L.D. Zinovieva-Annibal’s inner resistance to the symbolist attitudes that defined the religious and philosophical concept of Dionysianism, based on Zinovieva-Annibal’s artistic work and her correspondence with her husband, the poet Vyacheslav Ivanov. The traditional interpretation of her first important work, the drama Rings , in modern literary studies is to read it as a “deciphering” of Ivanov’s project about the erotic Church of the future, uniting people and destroying the egoism of the individual. Her novel Thirty-Three Abomi-nations is also considered an illustration of Ivanov’s mystical-religious theory. The characterisation of Zinovieva-Annibal is usually taken from the description of life in the “Tower”, oriented towards Ivanov, based on the statements of the people around them, where her image as Manada dominates. The authors of the article seek to refute these positions by showing Zinovieva-Annibal’s scepticism towards her husband’s theory, which was evident not only in her life but also in her literary work. The aim of the article was to deconstruct artistic texts to recover “female subjectiv-ity” from under the burden of Dionysian overlays.
