Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds transformative potential for economic and social development across the globe, particularly in developing regions like Africa and Uganda.This article explores the current trends and challenges in AI adoption, emphasizing its impact on small-scale enterprises, agriculture, and healthcare.In Africa, AI applications are revolutionizing sectors by enhancing productivity and efficiency, as evidenced by AIpowered tools that analyze farm conditions and AI programs used in healthcare diagnostics.However, Uganda faces significant challenges, including inadequate digital infrastructure, limited AI expertise, and policy gaps that hinder widespread AI adoption.To fully harness the benefits of AI, Uganda must prioritize several strategic actions.These include investing in robust digital infrastructure, enhancing AI education and training through curriculum integration and vocational programs, and promoting awareness to dispel myths and highlight AI's potential benefits.Additionally, fostering public-private partnerships and developing a national AI strategy that ensures ethical standards and data privacy are crucial.By collaborating with international AI organizations, Uganda can access necessary resources and expertise.These measures will create a conducive environment for AI innovation, driving economic growth and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
