Abstract: Some automation enthusiasts might enjoy a world where business processes, once digitalized, remain static and unchanged over time, complying with their initial design specifications. In the digital age, however, where change is constant and occurs incrementally and even disruptively (Grover and Lyytinen 2023 ), the dynamics of business processes are pivotal to organizational survival and success. Following Peter Drucker, who is credited with saying that “the greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday’s logic,” it becomes imperative to embrace the dynamics of business processes and explore how they can be managed.
