Abstract: This study conducted an online survey of 328 adults nationwide from February 28, 2022, to March 28, 2022, to investigate the impact of gender role attitudes and marriage image on family strengths. The results are summarized as follows.First, no significant differences in gender role attitudes were observed based on sociodemographic characteristics.Second, an analysis of marriage image variations by sociodemographic characteristics revealed that men exhibited more positive marriage images compared to women, and individuals with higher health levels had more positive marriage images than those with low or average health levels.Third, an investigation into variations in family strengths by sociodemographic characteristics indicated that individuals from high or average economic backgrounds exhibited higher levels of family strengths than those from low economic backgrounds, and individuals with higher health levels demonstrated higher levels of family strengths compared to those with low or average health level.Fourth, the analysis of the impact of gender role attitudes and marriage images on family strengths revealed that more traditional gender role attitudes were associated with lower family strength. In comparison, more positive marriage images were associated with higher family strength.Fifth, an examination of the effects of gender role attitudes and marriage image on each sub-factor of family strength indicated that more traditional gender role attitudes correlated with lower levels of sub-factors of family strength such as 'family resilience,' 'mutual respect and acceptance,' and 'qualitative bonding.'Conversely, more positive marriage images were associated with higher levels of sub-factors of family strength such as 'family resilience,' 'mutual respect and acceptance,' 'qualitative bonding,' 'economic stability and cooperation,' and 'family culture and social participation.'
