Abstract: Among the characteristics of the noble Sharia of Islam and the paths of legislation among its proofs is the method of abrogation, as Almighty God said, "None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?"(Al-Baqarah: 106).Abrogation in the Quran and Sunnah encompasses great purposes and numerous advantages, considering the objectives of Sharia and the varying conditions of those obligated by it in terms of capability, time, and place. It represents wisdom in legislation, gradualism, compassion, and ease for the obligated. The research discusses the most important topics of abrogation, such as its definition linguistically, in the Quran, and terminologically, along with clarifying the relationship and connection between them. Then, it addresses the possibility of abrogation logically and legally, what is subject to abrogation and what is not, and the most important conditions for claiming abrogation in the Quran, and explains its types. The research then examines the problem regarding the inconsistency of some examples of the third type of abrogation -where recitation is abrogated but its ruling remains -with its description.I have strived -with God's help and successto reconcile and answer what might be raised concerning my findings, concluding with the fruits of this study, and from Him alone comes correctness and success.
