Techno-economic synergy analysis of integrated electric power and hydrogen system
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This study introduces an integrated renewable-penetrated electric power and hydrogen energy system (IRPHS) to address the integration challenges of renewable energy sources (RESs) into electric power systems (EPSs). The IRPHS combines a renewable-penetrated electric power system (RP-EPS) with power-to-hydrogen (P2H) stations, integrating an urban transportation system (UTS), and incorporating both short- and long-term hydrogen storages. By employing scenario-based stochastic programming and the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), study tackles uncertainties of renewable power and complexities of IRPHS operation. The research evaluates operational sensitivity and benefits of integrated versus stand-alone operations, focusing on operational flexibility across hydrogen generation, transportation, and storage scenarios. Findings highlight the potential for enhanced operational efficiency and optimality and economic benefits in wind power deployment.
