Abstract: The egg retail and wholesale enterprises play an important role in the efficient flow of egg products from the producer down to the consumer. However, in the Island Garden City of Samal, there are various possible problems that egg retailers and wholesalers might be facing due to the unavailability of large egg production farms and the sensitive features of an egg. This study seeks to identify the specific problems, determine the practices, and specify the different strategies of egg retailers and wholesalers in Samal Island. There is a total of 6 participants consisting of 5 egg retailers and 1 wholesaler that were purposely interviewed. The study revealed several numbers of specific problems that hit and affect egg retailers and wholesalers in Samal Island. These are the lack of supply, breakage, and spoilage of eggs, lack of improved storage facilities, poor quality of packing materials, far distance transportation from suppliers, fewer sales, high expenses, competition, and newly harvested eggs stuck on trays. There were also several practices and strategies of egg retailers and wholesalers unveiled in this study such as changing suppliers, reservation to the supplier, returning damaged eggs to the supplier, manual checking of eggs, price adjustment, securing eggs, consumption of not totally damaged eggs, and making the best initiative. Furthermore, the study suggests that before engaging in the world of business, it is essential to first understand the flow, potential risk, and basic practices of the desired business that every individual wants to pursue.
