Abstract: This is Dubin-Johnson Syndrome (DJS), a rare autosomal recessive disorder, which can be diagnosed by characteristic black colour of the liver biopsy tissue (Fig. 1). The histology examination shows intrahepatocellular deposits of a black melanin-like pigment1 (Fig. 2). A close clinical differential of this condition is Rotor syndrome in which liver colour is normal. Also, in Rotor Syndrome there is high urinary concentrations of both total coproporphyrin and coproporphyrin 1, while more urinary excretion of coproporphyrin l than coproporphyrin lll is seen in DJS.2 Both these conditions have a benign prognosis.3 I thank my patients and their families for their cooperation. I also thank my colleagues for their cooperation and support.
