Abstract: India’s wetlands, crucial for biodiversity and environmental stability, are currently in a state of crisis due to rapid urbanization, pollution, and climate change. This paper investigates the urgent need for conservation and presents a roadmap for enhancing wetland ecosystems across the country. We analyze the main factors contributing to the degradation of wetlands, including habitat loss, water contamination, and climate-induced alterations. By reviewing successful case studies and conservation strategies, we propose a multi-faceted approach that includes regulatory reforms, community involvement, and innovative restoration techniques. Our findings emphasize the importance of collaborative efforts and integrated management to transition from a state of crisis to effective conservation. The aim is to restore ecological balance and ensure the sustainable future of India’s wetlands.
