Abstract: The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, adopted by the Indian government, marks a transformative milestone in the nation's education system. It aims to develop a multidisciplinary, flexible, and holistic approach that addresses the needs of the 21st century. This paper focuses on the specific clauses within NEP 2020 that cater to rural education and analyzes the potential impact of these provisions on rural areas where access to quality education has historically been limited. While the policy holds promise, several challenges, such as infrastructure gaps, teacher shortages, and the digital divide, may hinder its full implementation. Addressing these obstacles is critical to ensuring that NEP 2020 can deliver on its potential for rural education reform.
