Forming Empathy in the History of the Country for Students Through Digital Practices of Modern Museums

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Objective of the study is to show the possibilities of digital practices of modern museums to form a sense of involvement in the history of the country among student youth. The methodological basis of the research. To understand the essence of digitalization of modern museums, the authors used the ideas inherent in actor-network theory, which allows us to imagine the interaction between technological systems and the social, organizational content of museums. The authors also used the theory of cybersocialization, since the digital practices of museums are organically involved in the cybersocialization of the younger generation. Results of the study. Using the example of the participation of the students of Platov SRSPU (NPI) in the multimedia Federal Memory Project dedicated to the participants of the Great Patriotic War “Museums of Russia – Keepers of the Future” in 2024, the potential of museums in forming a sense of patriotism, pride in the feat of the whole people in the victory over fascism is shown. The attitude of students to participate in the project was expressed through the essays in which the following points can be distinguished: emotional response to individual episodes of the Great Patriotic War; admiration for the exploits of little-known war heroes; the respect that has arisen for the contribution of women to a great victory; surprise at the participation of individual professional groups in the war, such as museum workers; interest in the participation of his/her small homeland in the war. It is also positive that most of the students have changed their attitude towards museums and are planning further visits to museums in order to expand knowledge about the history of the country. Research рerspectives consist in a further study of the role of museums in the cultural and historical socialization of students in the context of digital practices used by university museums.
