Consensus-Based Model Predictive Control for Active Power and Voltage Regulation in Active Distribution Networks
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: In this paper a Consensus-based Model Predictive Control (Cb-MPC) is proposed for voltage and active-power control of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in grid-connected Active Distribution Networks (ADNs).The design is developed based on the Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) model of the ADN to account for mutual interaction between the DERs. In the proposed control scheme, each DER unit is equipped with a controller-observer. The DER's observer implements the consensus part estimating the collective system’s state only exchanging data with the neighbours. The MPC controller for each DER solves the optimal control problem based on its collective state estimate and is robust against unknown scenarios changes of the ADN modeled as parameters uncertainty. The results of numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique in presence of uncertainties and communication sample-and-hold.
