Abstract: In order to better reflect the obligations and principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the national legislation, in 2020 the Parliament of Georgia adopted the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The law significantly improves the legal guarantees of persons with disabilities at the national level. In Georgia, the process of transition to a social model of disability assessment, creation of support services and deinstitutionalization is underway. However, currently, social care and support services offered to persons with disabilities are limited. As a result of the research, priority issues were identified, which must be taken into account by service providers. It was determined that there is a need to provide legal and institutional mechanisms to protect the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities.
