EP01.49: The utility of 3D reconstruction of segmented MRI images in cases of fetal head tumours
Year: 2024
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: To evaluate the utility of segmented 3D images of fetal MRI images in cases of fetal head tumours. Cases of diagnosed fetal head tumours were submitted to 3D reconstruction with segmentation of the tumour as well as affected areas around it using MRI images. Six cases of head and face tumours were selected. Four cases of epignatus, one case of hamartoma and one case of craniopharyngioma. In all cases, the tumours could be properly segmented. The anatomical relation of the tumour with normal tissues could be demonstrated, as the spatial relation between normal and abnormal tissues. In cases of fetal head tumours, 3D segmentation and reconstruction of normal and abnormal tissues increases the spatial perspective of normal tissues around the tumour, with special utility in parental counselling and postnatal surgical planning.
