EP01.48: The use of three‐dimensional imaging segmentation for spatial visualisation of structures altered by facial malformations
Year: 2024
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: To evaluate the viability of creation of 3D reconstructed images based on fetal MRI images of fetal facial malformations. MRI images of five fetuses affected by facial fetal malformations were selected for 3D segmentation of affected structures. Five cases were studied: One case of arrhinia, Two cases of epignatus, one case of agnatia and one case of compressive distortion of the face. MRI images can be successfully reconstructed in cases of facial fetal malformations. The fetal facial surface can be reconstructed, demonstrating the esthetical appearance of the fetus in details. The extension of the malformations are also reconstructed, demonstrating the extension of the anatomical distortion. 3D reconstruction of fetal MRI images can produce 3D images of the fetal facial surface and the anatomical extension of the malformations. The 3D image can be used for parental counselling and postnatal surgical planning.
