EP08.52: Association between Crown–rump length in first trimester and birthweight in full‐term pregnancies

Year: 2024
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: Crown–rump length (CRL) reflects growth in early pregnancy. In the present study we aimed to assess a possible correlation between CRL in first trimester scan and birthweight in full-term pregnancies with normal growth. The present study included pregnant women that underwent a first trimester scan in the two different fetomaternal centers in central Greece during a twelve month period and gave birth a full-term neonate. A retrospective database was created included basic demographics, medical history, CRL values and birth outcomes. Informed consent was obtained from all participants. Experimental therapeutic protocols are not applicable in this study. All data were analysed anonymously using code numbers with respect to the patient's privacy and collected in the context of routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS version 26.0. Our study included 306 full-term pregnancies with normal growth. In statistical analysis, CRL values measured in first trimester scan was not statistically significant correlation with birthweight in full-term pregnancies with a normal growth (r = 0.062, p = 0.276). Our results suggest that growth patterns in early pregnancy are not indicating for late pregnancy growth patterns in normal full-term pregnancies.
